Subject: Marathon Team to Worlds named

Two paddlers have been named to represent Canada at the World Marathon Canoe and Kayak Championships in Stockton on Tees, England, Sept 1 and 2, 2001.

They are Stephen Tuttle, Carleton Place Ontario, and Trevor MacLean, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Stephen will represent Canada in the Junior K1 Class. Trevor will compete in the Senior Mens K1. Both Trevor and Stephen raced in a Qualifier in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia on June 17. I have been assured by Nova Scotia president Doug Archibald that both paddlers are members of provincial marathon paddling organizations.

A team leader will likely be named shortly (the candidate has to confer with his family). We should all wish Stephen and Trevor good luck in their racing endeavours in England in a few weeks.
