What do I have?
I can no longer say that I am probably the only person in Halifax (or
even the country?) on a disability pension that has eleven computers.
I am now probably the only person in Halifax (or even the country?) on a
disability pension that has fifteen computers:
- One Sinclair ZX-81,
- Two VIC-20s,
- An old TRS-80, Model I with Level I BASIC,
- One Commodore PET,
- One T.I. 99/4A,
- A second-hand Seiko running MP/M-86,
- One Texas Instruments Professional Computer with MS-DOS 2.13,
- An IBM Portable that looks like a pet carrier,
- Two Sanyo MBC-555s (one without a monitor).
- An old Sequa Chameleon that currently doesn't work but may be
resusitated with a power-supply transplant.
- An IBM PS/2 Model 30 286 with a monitor so fuzzy that IT needs glasses.
- An old Everex '286 machine I got for ten dollars for parts, (there's
a card in it that has cables to eight connectors on the back of it and a
ribbon connecter to some sort of card in one of the drive bays. A SCSI
controller perhaps?)
- And an IBM PS/1 which I just got as an emergency backup for
connecting to the Internet.
Currently, only the T.I. Pro., the IBM, and the Seiko get any regular use.
I have added to my T.I. Professional:
- A 3 1/2" drive,
- A serial card meant for an IBM PC,
- A clock card also meant for an IBM PC,
- And a Hercules-compatable video card that I am planning on
using as a 64k RAM-disk.
I am currently using 4DOS as a replacement for
COMMAND.COM on my IBM Portable and am now a happy registered user. I
finally was able to afford to send J.P. Software some money.
After moving into my new apartment, I can easily
say that the only thing ANSI-standard in my apartment
is my toilet.
What do I use them for?
I usually use my computers for:
