Travel for the FRAM Workshop

 

Citizens of all countries where participants are based can enter Canada with their passports, visas are not required. Citizens of other countries can check their entry document requirements at the CIC website.

·     Bus: To take the bus from downtown to Dalhousie University, board the  #1 Spring Garden bus on Barrington Street or Spring Garden Road, pay $2, get off at the corner of Coburg Road and Lemarchant Street, and walk south one block. The bus driver can advise you where to get off. However, the distance is so short, about ten blocks, it is usually just as fast to walk.

 

Flights

 

Air Canada provides daily flights to Halifax from New York, Toronto, and Montreal, with worldwide connections. Air Canada in partnership with Continental Airlines, provides worldwide connections through Houston, Newark, and Boston. Northwest Airlines offers daily flights to from Detroit to Halifax. Northwest Air Link offers daily service from Boston to Halifax.

 

Halifax is well serviced with scheduled direct flights from continental Europe and the United Kingdom.

 

Ground transportation

 

There are three ways to get from the airport to downtown Halifax:

·     Airport shuttle service. Airporter Inc. provides regular shuttle service to and from various hotels in Halifax. Hours of operation are 6:00 a.m.–1:00 a.m. daily. Regular rates are $18 for a one-way ticket. Telephone 902-873-2091.

·     Taxi. $53 one-way.

·     Car rental.

 

Prestige Limo offers a special rate of $50 for Lord Nelson guests. You can reserve a taxi when booking with the hotel, or you can call Prestige directly at 1-888-466-7737, say you need a ride to the Lord Nelson, give them your name, itinerary and flight number, and they will have a driver waiting for you when you arrive holding a sign with your name on it.
